Years ago, I bought a device that was a Simi-DIY. I say Semi because all the pieces were there… I just needed to put them together. Like most men, I pulled out the parts and began putting the pieces together with no thought of ever looking at the direction sheet. It was pretty clear to me what needed to be done. Right?
Well into the project I came to realize that I had a problem. The remaining bolts were too short for what I needed to assemble. Looking at what was already assembled, I noticed that many of the bolts that I had already used were just a bit long and that I could have used the shorter bolt in their place… allowing me the longer bolts for what I was now facing. So, one by one I began to replace the longer bolts with the shorter bolts.
Once the project was finished I decided to take a quick look at the directions. Sure enough, I found that the directions clearly stated to use the shorter bolts in the first part of the assembly and the larger bolts in the latter assembly. No matter what, I still looked at my accomplishment as a success.
In another project I was putting a wooden device together only to realize that I had screwed several of the pieces together backwards. And yes, once again, the directions clearly showed that I had been assembling things improperly. But even though I wasted my time having to undo what I had done, when I was finished… it was a success.
I could tell you many other stories of embarrassment but I think you have the idea. In fact, we often kid one another that this is a guy thing. I mean, what guy ever needs to read the directions? We instantly know how to put things together. Right?
Over the years I have met people in all levels of success. The first thing I learned was that everyone has their own definition of what success is and that this is OK as long as they have a clear definition and they are comfortable with it. We often state that we must all learn from our own mistakes. We believe that this is just a part of the process we must go through.
I have also found that as people are striving to build their businesses they all have different levels of frustration… for many varied reasons. And, we each build a network around us to assist us as much as possible. Even us “guys”.
When I began to analyze the many frustrations that entrepreneurs were experiencing I noticed certain things in common. First, many had no clearly defined Exit Plan and therefore building their business was their end game. A second observation was that many were spending much time, energy and money and still feeling frustrated that they were not moving their business forward as they would like. They were often doing everything they knew to do but with little results. Often doing things they knew were necessary but for some reason it didn’t seem to work for them.
In my analysis I began to work with entrepreneurs who had built successful businesses. I finally sat down with an older successful marketer who was willing to show me why so many struggled. With his mentoring I began to assemble what we both thought was a general step by step plan of action that was something most entrepreneurs could use to guide them through their processes of building their businesses.
Looking at my finished product I saw it much like the step by step plans that I did not bother to follow as I attempted to build my earlier projects. Only, this was for building a business.
Now that I am older and wiser I recognized that if an entrepreneur followed a sequence like this in building their business they would save much time, energy and money in their process, not to mention the frustration.
With that in mind, I have decided to reach out and offer my services to you.
